About the ISMBE 1. General The Israeli Society for Medical and Biological Engineering (ISMBE) was established in 1958 and became a non-profit association in 1969. The ISMBE is affiliated to the European Association of Medical and Biological Society (EAMBS) and to the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE). Vision To become the leading professional organization for biomedical engineers in Israel. 3. Objectives Form professional ties between companies and individuals who are active in the field of biomedical engineering Update and expose the members to information and new idea within the framework of meetings and conferences and via electronic media Provide a direct and electronic stage for individuals and companies to exhibit their professional capabilities and fields of expertise that might be of interest to other members Represent the mutual interests of the members to employers, academic institutions and governmental authorities. To be an influential factor in standardization and regulation issues related to BME To serve as a professional bridge to alike international organizations To form and consolidate focused sub-groups on different branches of the union To assist in bonding between investors and entrepreneurs of the union To assist young engineers to find a job in the field To assist biomedical engineering students in finding relevant temp-jobs during their studies – and respectively assist companies who need short term assistance To assist academic institutions in forming syllabus and subjects for final projects in the industry To assist physicians and inventors in the field in technical issues To promote image stature of biomedical engineers in the eyes of the public 4.
